Penn State's football program is toast.
Thanks to Sandusky the pervert and the "Win at all costs" mentality that covered up for the pervert all those years.

that Penn St. remain a competitive team. I'm talking about money, and for that reason, I don't think they'll be toast for long.

18. I think "Mid West 12" would be closer.
|
"Big" is meaningless. Yes, you can argue that Penn. State isn't really in the mid west but it is more accurate than going with "10" when you have 12 schools in the conference. The same could be said for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln but my point still stands. The conferences are regional in nature and it makes sense to name them that way. |

|
It was the sins of one pervert and some enablers. They had nothing to do with that.
Only if all of them can me taken into other top notch schools on whatever scholarships they had. |

(He hit .675 as a high school senior, with an even dozen home runs. In college he is no longer allowed to use the bat he used in high school because the school has a contract with a different manufacturer. He had a good year, hitting .406, but he tells me that he still doesn't feel comfortable with the new stick.) |

Hopefully some small gains against a society that has allowed people like Sandusky to thrive. But football - nope the two are not the same and they are not related.

if this isn't Lack of Institutional Control... then I don't know what is.
USC received 2 year bowl ban and 30 scholie losses for ONE player taking benefits from a wannabe agent. Penn State deserves 10 year bowl ban and 1,000 scholarship losses. They deserve the death penalty. |

20. The NCAA has to make a ruling.
|
They would probably rather eat ground glass than handle this.
They have been saying that they would wait for the court case to be resolved. They usually stick their noses in anyway, but this was so big and serious that it was probably better that they waited. Now we will see. They could say that Paterno is dead, Sandusky is in jail, and the rest is really administrative matter. I don't think that will fly in light of the testimony about so many coaches 'not seeing' what they saw. Talk about lack of institutional control. That usually brings down a hammer. I hope they lower the boom and clear that FB staff out. Too many people still there have been around forever. They may say that it's not fair to the players. Well boo hoo! That didn't matter when it came to SMU. This is such an egregious and horrible mess that they better act. BUT PSU has a lot of clout in a lot of areas. ![]() |

Yeah the whole thing is a black eye for everyone involved, but it's hard to see any NCAA violations for the current program.

23. They are so much better off without Sandusky but I hope this verdict and
|
next, the sentencing, will wake up other corrupt institutions. I really think others in the Penn State admin should have been charged because this horror went on for 15 years and in the showers on Penn State's campus no less.
