Say what you will about Michael Bloomberg.

How rich he is and how anti labor he is.

So far, he's the only elected official who is asking the only relevant question:

Why are there guns and ammunition in the hands of the public?

Is he asking this question as a wealthy elitist who fears assassination?

Or is he asking this question as a concerned citizen who realizes that anyone can be shot and killed at the whim of another?

2. Neither,

As a wealth elitist who is authoritarian and wants power for its own sake and learned video editing from James O'Keefe.

Oh yeah, percentage wise, who has the most felons among their membership MAIG or NRA? I'm willing to bet the same answer would be in absolute numbers too.

5. Shares, you are as consistent as ever, LOL...

From the OP:

...Or is he asking this question as a concerned citizen who realizes that anyone can be shot and killed at the whim of another?

And now, from the post I'm answering:

He is at risk from assholes with guns. Are you?

I think you guys--you and yourself--need to work it out before airing your conflicting views in public.

PS: which one is Shares and which is Loudly?

6. English not your first language?

You: "Say what you will about Michael Bloomberg."

Me: "Okay, fuck him and his bodyguards AND their machineguns. Pussies, all of them!"

You: "He is at risk from assholes with guns. Are you?"

Could you link to recent articles that recount the various attempts on his life or attempted kidnappings? That would be awesome of you, thanks!

You: "Or are you just a paranoid delusional dingleberry?"

No, but looking at Bloomy's security detail I'm fairly certain he sure as fuck is!

7. You favor guns in the hands of people who would shoot the man.

I can say that based on your willingness to place guns in the hands of the public generally, and from your own perspective that he threatens the ability of assassins to arm themselves.

So yes, he needs more protection. You just think you need the same protection based on what? The brilliance of your postings?

Don't think so.

8. umm no.

If someone were to, they would get the means. Either one of us can get a full auto Uzi on a UK street for 200 pounds, no questions asked. Just have to know people in low places.

11. ummmmm no again

I don't support repealing the NFA nor do I support black marketeers regardless of what they are selling. The illegal gun trade uses the same routes as drugs, often involving the same people. That is as true in Europe as it is here. I have also been very clear about my views about the illegal drug trade.

The two are incompatible.

It's not that hard.

12. So...

Should we reserve the right to keep and bear arms just for our neo-nobles and their knights ?

I don't think that will go over too well here in America. Or even here at DU

13. Say what I want about Bloomberg?

OK, he's a lying attention whore that has prompted others to go into states to illegally buy firearms at gun show (things he won't do himself because he knows it's a crime) then has the tapes edited to further his agenda.

18. He is asking,

as a TYRANT, plain and simple, who wants his subjects disarmed and compliant like sheep.

His, subjects , including OWS protesters, are much easier to "deal with" , when they are disarmed.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/15/bloomberg-on-occupy-wall-_n_1094708.html

Of course he wants his enforcers, you know the 7th largest army in the world, to be armed to the teeth.

http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2011/11/bloomberg_claim.php

Bloomberg is a typical "would be tyrant", who is all too eager, to arm up his army, and use it to bully protesters into submission at his discretion alone.

19. Hypocrisy in policy, contemptuous of American Freedom

Does the man who asks "why are there guns in the hands of the public" surround himself with armed guards?

Bloomberg should lead by personal example- disarm his security staff- if he simply must piss on our Bill of Rights.

Also, the public has a right to know- does Michael Bloomberg own any guns?

Who is going to submit a freedom of information request to answer that question?

21. He is protected by armed bodyguards,

because he is "special", he is better than you or I. He is a 1%er, who shouldn't be bothered to live by the same rules and laws the rest of us "little people" do.

Some day you will understand , that all he does, is for you and the rest of us "little people" so we can live in a better society.
What a sacrifice he is making, for the rest of us.

22. His private guards get to carry fully automatic weapons.

So if they have a fully automatic M-16s they get a fire rate of 500 RPM.

Of course, using the 100% ATF approved technique of "bump firing", anybody can get a 500 RPM rate from any ole AR-15, just like the one Holmes used:

23. Isn't it somewhat odd that many rich and famous people get to own and even carry firearms in NYC? ..

The Rich, the Famous, the Armed

By JO CRAVEN McGINTY
Published: February 18, 2011

MEN and women. Democrats and Republicans. Doctors, lawyers, merchants and moguls. A remarkable, if relatively small, cross-section of New Yorkers legally own handguns, according to public records obtained by The New York Times.

Among the more than 37,000 people licensed to have a handgun in the city are dozens of boldface names and public figures: prominent business leaders, elected officials, celebrities, journalists, judges and lawyers.

***snip***

The 41,164 handguns registered with the Police Department as of Jan. 14 include those owned by more than 2,400 people who live outside the city but have permission to bring their weapons here people like Roger E. Ailes, the president of Fox News, whose license lists an address in New Jersey; John J. Mack, the chairman of Morgan Stanley, who lives in Westchester County; and Sean Hannity, the conservative talk-show host, who lives on Long Island.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/20/nyregion/20guns.html?_r=1

Perhaps the 1% is actually far more worthy, honest and intelligent than the 99% as I don't see Bloomberg proposing a total gun ban in his city.
